Miniature Golf Course, Goofy Golf or Pitch & Putt Golf

Miniature or mini golf is a smaller version of the sport of golf. The World Minigolf Sport Federation calls it as mini-golf but largely in the US and other countries the sport is better known as miniature golf. Popularly called crazy golf in the UK it is also often called midget golf, goofy golf, shorties or mini-putt.

Putt-Putt is the trademark of an American company that builds and franchises miniature golf courses. The term Minigolf was formerly a registered trademark of a Swedish company building patented minigolf courses. The first minigolf course in the world is the Ladies' Putting Club of St. Andrews in Scotland, founded in 1867 that is still operational and open for public.

It became a vogue in large hotels to offer guests miniature-sized golf courses that were scaled down versions of regular golf courses. The game was played with a golf putter and a short driver and was called garden golf, pitch and putt golf or clock golf. Miniature golf is now a popular sport especially with innovative and beautiful courses that have been developed.

You can find miniature golf courses with plentiful mounding, varying elevations, streams and even waterfalls and colorful landscapes. Not only are mini courses beautiful but they may also be challenging. Let a championship golf course give you this thrill. Minigolf has acquired wide popularity as families are taking to the sport in a big way. More so since the game offers challenging fun and activity that can be enjoyed any time. You may enjoy playing miniature golf indoors when the weather does not permit you to play outdoors. These mini-golf courses include subtle sloping greens, undulations, mounds, sand traps and water hazards.
